FAQ

What is Mastering

Mastering, simply put, is the process of preparing your project for distribution. It involves fine-tuning the frequency and dynamic balance of your track to make sure that it stands up against others. With so much good-sounding music out there, it's important that yours can stand beside it, and that's what mastering can help you with.

Mastering is the last stage in the process, and requires an already mixed song. If you need your song mixed, I also offer mixing services, which includes a stereo master.

What do I need to provide?

You'll need to provide me with the final stereo mix in .wav format at the native sample rate and bit-depth of your session (generally 44.1kHz, 24-bit).

What's Included in the Price?

You get up to 3 revisions (more upon discretion) and the final master file.

What Will I Receive?

When the master has been signed off by you, you will receive:

  • Stereo master .wav file at requested sample rate and bit-depth (44.1kHz, 24-bit unless otherwise specified)

    • This is what you send for digital distribution

  • Stereo master .mp3 file at 320kbps

    • For sharing around with your friends, and for your EPK.

Can I Attend a Mastering Session?

If you live in Melbourne, Australia and would like to attend a mastering session, we can try and arrange for that to happen! That said, often the mastering process is more efficient if I complete it in my own time.
